We’re back!

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates but our family was in town for the holidays. The cutest part they came to help with Bambi’s recovery.

Speaking of, Bambi has been doing amazing! Her scar is healing well and she’s definitely back to her old self (waking us up with lots of kisses running around.) we haven’t been able to leave her alone at home because she wants to be very active and although that’s very good we do just want her to take it easy for a bit longer. But we loved staying at home for the holidays just having a little family time was just what she needed

she hasn’t yet tried using the stairs which were completely ok with, I’m so scared that she could break her other  leg…so she’s getting carried everywhere still.

Now we wanna focus on rehab and a diet for her. Her vet said she has to lose a little weight so we have to help her with that.  She loves being the only girl With their auntie Jhusara. Coming from Chicago to help out with Bambi

HOPE YOUR NEW YEAR IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS BAMBI BELLA! Happy 2018!!

determined little Bambi

I can’t believe it’s only been a week since Bambi’s surgery…it feels like months. I think the worst part was watching her in pain. Her crying will always stay with me.

But Bambi is a very determined little girl. She wants to run every time we put her down to potty…she had a couple of falls the first time we let her walk but she’s got it all down now! She also wants to get down from the bed on her own and although we made the bed lower and got a ramp We rather not have her move too much tho so we have to pick her up and carry her everywere…like a brand new baby!

She started eating on a regular and as well as going potty…we get really excited when we see her poop haha (we are very proud parents). Nights are a little hard for her. She wakes up whimpering, crying and we do t know if it’s because she is pain or maybe because she remembers the pain. We soothe her but she has trouble going back to sleep (wants to walk around the bed or just sits and stares)  we rather stay awake with her until she goes back to sleep.

Before we rescued her she went through a lot, being a stray and breaking her leg while she was a stray and now breaking it again and loosing that leg. Going through that pain it’s not fair. She’s is such a wonderful puppy. She makes us so happy, instantly when you see her eyes. it kills me she’s going through this. But she’s stronger than us.

Rough day

Another rough night/day Bambi’s pain got bad last night (which we expected on the 3rd day) but it was hard to hear her cry and wimper. I read the comments from my last post; “keep on top of her pain meds …3rd day is the hardest” so we stayed up all night to sooth her, give her her pain meds….

Bambi is eating better and per my last post comments you’re right bacon and beef and everything good she is happy to eat which we love. Besides her little poop from 3 days ago she hasn’t gone since. She was good with the peepee but hasn’t gone all day yesterday or today..should I be worried?…her incision looks good except for a little mishap with our chiwinnies (they are very clumsy). But she’s fine I have to carry her around now because they miss playing with her. What do you think about her incision?

Shes a fighter

P.S. thank you everyone for your help. I don’t think I could this without this website and your help.

First Night at home

As you can see our little girl is a tough one. She’s very determined to walk on her own. She didn’t really fall asleep until 4 am and neither did we. We were so afraid that she would stop breathing or her stitches would rip or something. We had to give her some pain meds in the middle of the night. Still had trouble giving her meds tho it took us about an hr and a couple of bites but she took them. She still isn’t eating very well, she had a couple pieces of chicken last night but not at all interested today. Her brother (Nanaki a chihuahua mix) is getting a little jealous because she’s getting chiken and rice so he stole a couple of pieces.

We are watching her like hawk and making sure her incision is healing well…  and tomorrow I’ll be by my self with Bambi and two little needy puppers. I’m a little nervous…wish me luck

1st day home

Bambi is a beautiful 3 year old chihuahua. We rescued her about a yr ago, her left leg was broken before and healed naturally since she was a stray. Fast forward…Thursday night Bambi slipped on the hard  wood floor and landed on her bum leg. Instantly we heard a break, the screams coming out of her was the worst sound we’ve ever heard. We decided on amputation because it will be better for her. Today is the day at home and needless to say we’re freaking out.

Is the E-collar too tight? Is she hydrated enough? Why won’t she eat? Is the inaction site getting better?….so many things. I hate that she’s in pain but this website helps a lot. She’ll be okay she’s been through so much. She’s a trooper
