Rough day

Another rough night/day Bambi’s pain got bad last night (which we expected on the 3rd day) but it was hard to hear her cry and wimper. I read the comments from my last post; “keep on top of her pain meds …3rd day is the hardest” so we stayed up all night to sooth her, give her her pain meds….

Bambi is eating better and per my last post comments you’re right bacon and beef and everything good she is happy to eat which we love. Besides her little poop from 3 days ago she hasn’t gone since. She was good with the peepee but hasn’t gone all day yesterday or today..should I be worried?…her incision looks good except for a little mishap with our chiwinnies (they are very clumsy). But she’s fine I have to carry her around now because they miss playing with her. What do you think about her incision?

Shes a fighter

P.S.Β thank you everyone for your help. I don’t think I could this without this website and your help.

  1. Hi there!
Please pay close Stanton to her fluid intake. Eating canned food can help her hydration. Maybe tri mixing some crushed bacon into her canned food. Maybe low sodium chicken soup? She should be passing urine. The meds can bind them up so between a smaller appetite and meds that doesn’t worry me so much. If no urine tonight I would call her doctor tomorrow and mention it. If she’s getting painful now in between medication doses they should know that too, they might be able to tweak it a little. Now that the site is back up you may want to make a post in the forum group. That will help us to keep up with you because we can subscribe and get update emails when you post. Not so easy here to do.

  2. Oh, I can’t see the incision on this picture. Probably because I’m on my cell. I’ll look from my pc when I have a moment!

    1. She did go potty and is feeling so much better. I’ll edit the post and add a better picture. Sorry still getting use to using the site lol. Thank you for your advice!

  3. Bambi incision looks really good. We took Kiana to a PT 6 weeks after her amputation to get her body stronger with only having 3 legs. One things our PT made us do which was so hard for me, but I did it because I needed to do it. She said to massage the incision once/twice a day so scar tissue doesn’t build up. I would go up and down the incision everyday. You will be able to feel parts of the incision is very tight, I had to work those areas a little bit more. I used my 2 fingers and in a circular manner, lightly massage the incision. I was able to break up the scar tissue. Just a thought for down the road. How is your little one doing today?

    1. That’s something We wanna get for her. We are doing some research and trying to find a physical therapist for her. She’s doing ok. She’s been in some pain and we’re keeping up with her meds, but it takes a bit for them to work. She’s having some spasms around her incision…could that be phantom limb pain?

  4. She is just so darn cute!!! πŸ™‚ And yes, her incision looks exceptionally good!!

And YAY for potty!! Good firl Bambi Bella!! πŸ™‚
Yeah, you will notice some “twitching” around the incision. All normal. It often continues on way after recovery. No big deal, unkess of course, there is lain associated with it.

Phantom limb pain usually comes on out of the vlue. The dog often will jump up, scream, and try and run away from the pain…it last maybe anywhere from a out fifteen seconds to a bit longer. It’s when the brain is still firing off signals to the nereve endings for a limb thats no longer there’ Gabapentin is usually the best med for it. But it doesn’t sou d kike Bambi Bella is having this issue at all.

It’s still early in recovery, but it does get better!!
Stay connected! We’re here for you! Uodate when yiu can…..And with oictures of her cute self! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi. Sorry I haven’t been posting it’s been a long couple of days. She’s doing good but having trouble sleeping at night. She wakes up wimpering and has trouble going back to sleep. But other than that she’s been good and is eating her normal food and has been going potty regularly so yay!
